About the Archaeology Section
The Archaeology Section's work consists largely of post-excavation work processing the finds from various local digs with which the Section or the Société are involved. Although often unglamorous, this work is the essential background and support needed by visiting professional archaeologists and the Section itself on rescue excavations.
Interspersed between work meetings are talks and lectures by local archaeologists and, when possible, by visiting colleagues. In the summer months evening outings are organised to topical or theme sites. Excavation is only part of the Section's work. Members are encouraged in their own research, guidance and assistance is on hand as are the resources of the Section's specialist library.
