Mont Orgueil - Autumn 1999

Members of the Archaeology Section will be taking part in a programme of excavations to be directed by Dr Warwick Rodwell and scheduled to take place over the next three years at Mont Orgueil Castle. The ongoing dig which is being directed by Chris Aubin at Tesson Mill will continue at weekends during the Autumn months. Tesson Mill which is owned by The National Trust for Jersey is a most interesting and important industrial archaeological site, Chris would welcome any volunteers, anyone interested should contact him on 852787.

The seminar on Treasure Trove to be held in the Members' Room on November 13th should prove to be most informative; Dr Roger Bland from the British Museum will be one of the speakers together with Miss Stephanie Nicolle QC, Heather Sebire, Olga Finch and a member from the Jersey Metal Detecting Society.

New members are always very welcome, meetings are held every Thursday evening at La Hougue Bie at 8.00 pm.

Deirdre Shute.
