Bibliography Section Report

After a forced break in meetings of the Bibliography Section a small number met in what was anticipated to be a cold Arthur Mourant room (the heating again or rather non-heating) but we were saved the discomfort and rescued with a number of electric heaters. In that new found comfort we looked at Edmund Blampied and the vast number of book illustrations by our well-loved Jersey artist. A number of examples were produced and admired for the human and equine activity which Blampied is able to show in his illustrations. Other examples included the several issues of small Occupation theatre magazines Jersey Theatre which first appeared in June 1944 and which (after two editions) became, in August, Jersey Forum. Beautifully and dramatically (naturally) pictured was the theatre in Jersey as Blampied saw it.

The Section next meets on Tuesday 20th February when our subject will be Writing Rectors, which brings Rev. George R. Balleine immediately to mind, to which we will add local writers from other denominations, Rev. George Whitley of the Methodist Church for example. All members are welcome to join our next meeting from 5.15-6.30pm.
