La Société Jèrriaise fut fondée en 1873, pouor la promotion et l'encouothagement dé :
- L'êtude dé l'histouaithe, l'archéologie, l'histouaithe naturelle, la langue et hardi d'autres sujets d'întéthêt dans l'Île dé Jèrri.
- Lé travas du Héthitage Jèrriais et lé Sèrvice des Musées Jèrriais, et meuni l'înformâtion et l'assistance volontaithe.
- La Consèrvâtion dé l'envithonnement naturel dé Jèrri.
- La prêsèrvâtion des bâtisses et monuments historiques dé Jèrri.
- La publicâtion des livres et d'articl'yes concèrnant des sujets d'întéthêt local.
- Les exhibitions et êtalages dé travas.
- La ramâss'thie des objets fabritchis, livres, tableaux, photographes et les cartes dé l'Île.
- L'art dé nos jours par les jeunes dé l'Île, auvec la Bourse d'Art Barreau.

I appreciate the honour which the Société has accorded me in electing me President for the next three years. With the support of the Vice-Presidents, Executive Committee, Executive Director and staff, I shall do my utmost to further the aims of our ancient institution.
