Ernest Baudoux
Ernest Baudoux
Originally from France, Monsieur E. Baudoux worked in Jersey from 1869 in Craig Street and New Street until 1894 when he sold his business, including many glass-plate negatives. Ernest Baudoux specialised in portraiture and many of his double studio portraits have one image re-touched to hide the sitters’ blemishes or wrinkles. He also photographed views and he would have been commissioned to take pictures of people’s houses, in particular those belonging to rich English émigrés. His sons also worked with him as photographers. He died in May 1897.
