Competition Rules, Terms and Conditions of Entry 2008

1. Organisers : The organisers of the competition are the Société Jersiaise and the National Trust for Jersey.
2. Format : Entries must be colour or black and white prints at least A5 or 14.8 x 21cm in size. Digital prints are acceptable but must be accompanied by the file(s) from which they are printed on a labelled compact disc.
3. Identification : Each print submitted must be clearly marked on the reverse giving full details including:
   • the category in which the photograph is submitted
   • the name of the photographer (and age if a Junior entry)
   • the title or subject of the work
   • the date that the photograph was taken
   Please take care to avoid damaging your print(s) when writing the above details. The use of labels is recommended.
4. Junior Category : Only entrants of eighteen years of age or under on 26th September 2008 may enter this category.
5. Submission : Each submission must be accompanied by a completed entry form and may be delivered by hand or post to Société Jersiaise, 7 Pier Road, St Helier, Jersey JE2 4XW. Additional entry forms may be photocopied. One entry of a maximum of four photographs may be entered.
6. Entry Fees : Entry is free for Société Jersiaise Members. A fee of £5 is payable for entries from non-members. This fee covers one submission of up to four photographs. Separate submissions of less than four phtographs will be subject to an additional entry fee. Students may join the Société at the concessionary rate of £5 and become eligible for free entry.
7. Closing Date : The closing date for submissions is Friday 26th September 2008.
8. Liability : Entries are submitted entirely at the photographer's own risk and the organisers cannot accept any liability for loss of or damage to any entry however caused.
9. Copyright : Entrants must be the sole originator and copyright holder of all photographs submitted.
10. Judges : The Judges of the competition will be appointed by the organisers. The organisers' decision on all matters relating to the competition is final. No correspondence will be entered into concerning judging or general organisation.
11. Notification : The photographers of the winning entry in each category, the winning Junior entry, commended and selected entries will be notified by post on 31st October 2008.
12. Exhibition and Publication : Winning, commended and selected photographs will be retained by the organisers for inclusion in an exhibition to be held at the Société Jersiaise Members' Room in December 2008. Winning photographs will be reproduced in the Annual Bulletin of the Société Jersiaise. As a condition of entry the organisers reserve the right to reproduction without charge, in all media, of submitted photographs in connection with the competition and in Société Jersiaise publications. The National Trust for Jersey reserve the same rights to entries in the Coastline Category.
13. Return of Prints : Unsuccessful entries may be collected from the Société Jersiaise after 31st October 2008. Every effort will be made to return entries by post on condition that appropriate postage and packaging is supplied at the time of submission, though this cannot be guaranteed. Any unsuccessful entries not collected by 1st January 2009 may be disposed of.
