2006 Millennium Standing Stones Walk

I am delighted to report that funds raised by walkers taking part in the 2006 Standing Stones Walk exceeded £5,000 this year. We were therefore, able to forward a cheque for £2,508.85 to the Jersey Samaritans being half of the profit made by way of sponsorship. What started in 2003 as a simple ‘Stroll around the Stones’ is now making a considerable contribution to the work of both the Société Jersiaise and the Jersey Samaritans.

The picture shows one of the walkers Alistair Ross presenting Pauline Syvret with a cheque for £500. Alistair was able to claim the amount from his employers RBS International as part of their Community Cashback scheme where, if a member of staff raises a certain amount for a charity, then RBS International match it. We are extremely grateful to RBS International for their support and hope that this will encourage other employers to support their employees as more demands are made for sponsorship.

Date for the Standing Stones Walk 2007 – Saturday, 24th March. We are in the process of devising a new route, feedback from walkers tells us that one of the beauties of our Walk is that it is different every time, encompassing lanes and areas not previously explored. We do hope you will join us next year.
