Standing Stones Walk 2008

On Saturday, 29th March some 64 hardy Walkers braved bitterly cold winds on the sixth annual Standing Stones Walk. The Société is extremely grateful to all who participated and to all who manned the Check Points or helped in any way. Once again this year the costs of the event were met by generous sponsorship from Checkers, the Channel Islands Co-operative Society Ltd, Victor Hugo Ltd and the Museum Brasserie.

The Walk, which linked six of the western Parish Stones, covered twenty-three miles of Green Lanes, cliff paths and countryside, a varied terrain. Walkers were set on their way at 8 am from the Standing Stone at La Pulente, St Brelade, by our President and the Constable of St Brelade. The first Walker home came in at 1.15 pm and the last group, having stopped for refreshment along the way, at 4.45 pm.

When all the sponsorship money is received we will again be sharing the proceeds equally with the Jersey Samaritans.

Romantics in the Channel Islands

The Romantics in the Channel Islands exhibition at the Jersey Museum until December 2008 will be accompanied by a programme of talks and film showings at the Museum, talks will begin at 1 pm and will last approximately one hour, admission is free.
