New Website Launched
Welcome to the new Société Jersiaise website!
First established in June 1998, the Société Jersiaise website has provided information on the Société's activities to thousands of visitors from around the world for almost a decade. We hope that this new website will continue to serve the Société Jersiaise and build upon the foundations of it's predecessor.

Please note that this website has presently only been released as a 'soft launch' to ensure that any problems that may arise are addressed prior to announcement of the new website in the local media. Several aspects of the old site have yet to be included, such as la Section de la Langue Jèrriais and some History Section articles - these Sections are currently provided in their old format at http://members.societe-jersiaise.org/. These tasks and other outstanding issues will be completed in the coming weeks.
Let us know what you think of the new site, of any problems that you may have encountered or of any suggestions that you may have relating to things that you would like to see on the Société Jersiaise website.
About the new website
The new Société Jersiaise website has been developed in Jersey by hypertexture.net using the Joomla! open-source Content Management System. This software has been customised for the Société Jersiaise and allows Société members to easily manage the content of the website.
Features of the new website
- Photo Galleries
- The new Photo Galleries may be familiar to some of you as they have been available to visitors of the Société Jersiaise website since the end of last year to display the winners and entries to the annual Photography Competition.
- Search the Library
- The Lord Coutanche Library is currently developing a new Library Search system using the Adlib database system. Whilst this work is being undertaken, a temporary Library Search facility has been created to allow visitors to the website to Search the Library.
- Events Calendar
- Google Calendar has been integrated into the website to provide the Société with a centralised Events Calendar.
- Upgraded Discussion Forum
- The Discussion Forum - one of the most popular aspects of the Société Jersiaise website - has been upgraded to the latest version of the software.
- Improved Shop
- The previous online shop has been replaced with a new sytem and the database has been refined to facilitate the management of stock by Société staff.
- Individual Section Areas
- The new website separates the individual Sections of the Société Jersiaise into distinct areas so that each Section may develop content to represent their subjects.
- Multi-Lingual Support
- Support is provided in the new Société Jersiaise website to display content in different languages where translations have been supplied. At present, this is only evident on the About the Société Jersiaise page and the page of the new English-Jèrriais Dictionary , but further Jèrriais content will be included soon.
